Chiropractic is a Family Tradition

Looking back onto my childhood I now see that everything happens for a reason and my life as a chiropractor really is a Family Tradition!

My father, Dr. Donald Casteel, was one of the first chiropractors in the state of Pennsylvania to receive his state license to practice Chiropractic. With the help of the GI bill and my mother Zaneth, who worked as a nurse. My father was able to obtain his doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.

After my father’s graduation, my parents traveled around Pennsylvania and fell in love with Clearfield and the surrounding area. I was raised here with my two sisters and two brothers with the philosophy that God had created a perfect body and with the help of Chiropractic you could maintain a healthy & pain free life, naturally and without drugs.

My parents instilled in me the love of God and Chiropractic

After graduating from Clearfield High School I did my undergraduate studies at Penn State University then traveled to Davenport, Iowa where I was accepted to Palmer College of Chiropractic.

What an Adventure!

Dr. Mark Casteel lives an active life

Palmer is the founding school of Chiropractic it attracted students from all around the world. I was introduced to many different cultures and that is where I learned how to play Rugby. I joined the Rugby team and traveled all over the country. People were amazed at the rough and tumble sport. We would play hard, get beat up and get fixed up with the help of Chiropractic. Not only would our team get adjusted before and after the game but we would adjust our opponents as well! It was during one of those games that I met my wife Kerri from Michigan. She was a student in the Chiropractic technician program.

Upon my internship at Palmer I was awarded the high honor of “Senior Gold Coat” which enabled me to oversee and instruct other students in the “Art” of the Chiropractic adjustment.

The Move

After receiving my Doctorate, I convinced Kerri to move back to Pennsylvania with me. I worked for a short time for my brother Dr. Gary Casteel, who had a great influence on my Chiropractic career. On August 18,1984 Kerri and I set up practice in Philipsburg, PA.

We had great success from the start which allowed us to continue to follow our dreams of having a family. We have three children. Katie, who graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in Business Management and is now working in Manhattan.  Our two sons, Coulton and Gavan, have completed their undergraduate studies and both are following the family tradition by attending the D.C. Program at Palmer College. Coulton graduated October 2013 and Gavan is expected to graduate in 2015.

Third Generation Chiropractor

I am excited to join my family’s practice as a third generation chiropractor. My grandfather, Dr. Don Casteel became a chiropractor 60 years ago and my father, Dr. Mark Casteel followed his footsteps 30 years ago. The Casteel family is the largest chiropractic family in central Pennsylvania! I am fortunate enough to have grownup with chiropractic in my life and have seen the wonderful benefits. Now that I have graduated, I can carry on our family tradition of serving the community with chiropractic care.

My Chiropractic Journey

I grew up in Clearfield and graduated in 2007 from Clearfield High School. I always knew I wanted to be a chiropractor and followed my father and grandfather’s footsteps to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. Before starting Palmer ,I started perusing my Science Bachelors Degree at Slippery Rock University and later completed it at Palmer along with my Doctorate in Chiropractic.

Father Like Son

Same as my father, I was a member of the rugby team while at Palmer College of Chiropractic. In 2010 and 2011 our team reached Division 1 Men Final 4 National Championship. I played wing and full back positions.  I was also a member of the professional chiropractic fraternity, Pi Kappa Chi, being Vice President for one year. While part of the fraternity I was involved in a lot of community service throughout  the Quad Cities area.

Personal Interests and Activities

I am an avid outdoors man and in my spare time I enjoy spending time at camp and going hunting, fishing, hiking and riding 4-wheelers . I also participate in Clearfield’s indoor soccer league. In the winter months I enjoy going snowboarding and riding snowmobiles.

Hi there, I am also a doctor at Casteel Chiropractic! I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA in 2014. At Palmer, if you finish all your clinic requirements by your last trimester, you are allowed to precept in the field with a doctor till graduation. I have been at Casteel Chiropractic working with Dr. Mark and Dr. Coulton since 2013. I use very similar techniques as Dr. Mark and Dr. Coulton but with a feminine touch! I also am certified to perform CDL/DOT physicals.

Dr. Coulton and I met and started dating while attending Palmer and now I am thrilled to be here with him and his wonderful family in beautiful central Pennsylvania. We will be getting married September 2017!

Here is a little more about me. I am originally from Ottawa, Illinois, a small town about an hour and half southwest of Chicago. I went to University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign for my undergraduate studies. I started Palmer in fall 2010. At Palmer I worked as a study assistant and helped students with gross and spinal anatomy. I also frequently babysat for several local families. In June 2013, I went on a chiropractic mission trip through Palmer to Salvador, Brazil.  Our group saw over 2,000 patients. In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors, working out, shopping, and baking.

I am also very passionate about essential oils. If you would like to learn more about the amazing benefits of essential oils, please feel free to contact me at drbrowndoterra@gmail.com.

I am grateful to be here and to work with Dr. Mark and Dr. Coulton. Everyone I have met so far has made me feel very welcomed to the area. I couldn’t ask for a better community and office to be at.

We would love to meet you and answer your questions. Give us a call or send us an email today.
